- If you like architecture, you'll find beautiful historic buildings in the old town where you can also enjoy a bite to eat or a drink overlooking the canals. A visit to Maria-Theresien Strasse is a must! Stretching from the Arc de Triomphe to the Old Town, it is one of the busiest streets in Innsbruck, where there are a variety of cafes, restaurants and bars. Most of this street is pedestrianized and is an ideal stop after a day on the slopes where you can do some shopping and sightseeing, as you will also be within walking distance of St. Anne's Column and St. George's Chapel.
- Have you heard of the Golden Roof? Locally known as Goldenes Dachl, it is a building with a golden roof and considered the most famous landmark of the city and another building you will see during your walks through the old town of Innsbruck.

But before you hit the slopes, we recommend you check out this brief description of each of the ski resorts to find the one that best suits your profile as a skier/snowboarder and that of your travel companions:
This is known as Austria's largest glacier at an altitude of 3,210 meters. It has 26 modern cable car and elevator facilities and is about a 45-minute drive from Innsbruck. This ski area is ideal for intermediates and beginners, as its 36 runs range from easy to somewhat more demanding.
2. Axamer Lizum
This ski area is 19 km from Innsbruck and its slopes stretch over 40 km of perfectly groomed snow and are ideal for those looking for some action .
3. Skizentrum Schlick 2000
Perfect for a family ski holiday , the Skizentrum Schlick 2000 ski resort is just 15 minutes from Innsbruck and offers a great selection of restaurants and cozy huts where you can make a pit stop to recharge your batteries.
4. Kühtai
Many of you may have heard of this ski area, as it is the highest ski area in Austria and therefore offers you the purest snow conditions. So, if you are visiting this ski area, you can book with complete peace of mind knowing that snow is guaranteed. If you like less crowded and wide slopes, this is the place for you. You can even ski to your accommodation, as we offer excellent hotels and apartments with direct access to the slopes.
5. Hochoetz
Here you will find a total of 39 kilometers of slopes and is considered a winter paradise for families, as it hosts many different events. Their children's programs are also fantastic.
6. Muttereralm
If you are looking for a cozy ski resort to visit with your family, Mutterer Alm is perfect for you. Here there are 15 km of slopes with lengths between 700 and 4,200 meters. Great if you want something relaxed where the kids can gain confidence in the snow.
7. Bergeralm
This is the place for high quality skiing, as here you can enjoy the magnificent views of Wipptal. You can also practice night skiing, as there are a total of 9 km of illuminated slopes.
8. Nordkette
This ski resort is a must-see as it is the jewel of the Alps. Here you will find Austria's largest nature park, located just a short walk from the old town. This ski area is only 20 minutes from Innsbruck and the ski pass gives you access to the Seegrubenbahn that will take you to the top of the mountain from where you will have a breathtaking view of the capital of the Alps as well as the Karwendel Nature Park.
9. Serlesbahnen Mieders
This ski area is ideal for families, beginners and also if you're feeling rusty and want to reacquaint yourself with skiing and snowboarding, as the slopes are mostly blue.
10. Elferbahnen Neustift
This ski resort can be reached by car. It is a 20-minute drive from Innsbruck to the Elferbahnen Valley station, where you take the Elferbahn to the slopes. Here there is a platform with the largest sundial in the Alps.
11. Patscherkofel
The ski resort is located 1,674 meters above Innsbruck and only a 10-minute drive from the city center. It is known to be ideal for families and offers a variety of slopes, which is excellent if you are traveling with skiers and riders of different levels.
12. Rangger Köpfl
This ski resort is what you'll want to find if you're looking to spend some unforgettable moments with friends and family. The runs range from easy to medium level over a total of 17 kilometers. Here you'll also find a 10 km toboggan run!
13. Glungezer
This ski resort is new as of the 2020/2021 season. If you ski here, you will have the opportunity to contemplate the beautiful scenery while descending on well groomed slopes.
The ski season in the Austrian Alps usually starts in late November or early December (depending on the weather) and can last until the end of March. Some of their ski resorts have glaciers and therefore may remain open during the summer season. If you are wondering what is the best time to ski in Innsbruck, our ski and snowboard experts on Esquiades.com recommend skiing anytime between mid-January and the end of February. March can also be a good time to go skiing, as you can find excellent snow conditions and pleasant weather.
January and February are considered high season in the world of skiing and snowboarding, so if you are looking for a cheap ski holiday , skiing in March is also a good month. However, if you prefer to go skiing on less crowded dates, you can also go skiing in Innsbruck in December or even on any other dates during the ski season.

To pick up your Ski plus City Pass, you will need to go to the Innsbruck Tourist Office and hand in a copy of your confirmation voucher and show them the ID of the booking holder. You will find the exact address and other details on the confirmation voucher.
Please note that children between 0 and 7 years of age do not have to pay for the Ski plus City Pass as long as adults have booked this service. Therefore, for each adult in possession of the Ski plus City Pass, 1 child aged 0 to 7 years will have this service free of charge. You will also need to show the children's ID to receive this service.
- By plane

If you're going on a family ski holiday, this ski school is located on the Stubai Glacier and it offers lessons for children of all ages. In its facilities you’ll find a play area, a warm-up area where the kids can stretch before starting the lesson.
Good to know: Next door there’s a restaurant called the Big Family Restaurant where you all can stop for lunch.
AGE and Oetz-Hochoetz.
Both ski schools are located in the Hochöetz ski area and ensure a cheerful atmosphere. Once the kids have gained confidence in WIDIs Kids Land, they can then move on to the family-friendly slopes of Hochoetz.
Skischool Götzens
Located in the Muttereralm Ski Resort, this ski school has a wide range of programmes and courses for both adults and children. Whether you’re a beginner or an intermediate and want to take skiing to the next level, you’ll surely find a programme to suit you and your family. The instructors speak perfect German, English and Dutch.
The Alpin Ski School
Located right at the foot of Patscherkofel’s ski resort, it offers ski and snowboard lessons for both adults and children and the instructors speak different languages.
