Les Deux Alps, located in the French Alps is one of the most popular resorts in France. Its name does not refer to the fact that there are two mountains that unite in a single ski area, but to the fact that it includes two towns: Vénosc and Mont-de-Lans.
The resort is located on the Lauce glacier, the only one with the largest ski area in France, with 225 km spread over 96 slopes. It is also the second oldest ski resort in the country, after Chamonix.
Despite occupying a single mountain, it has a significant vertical drop of 2,300 m, with long runs. The altitude and the fact that it has a glacier guarantee high quality snow, especially on the north-facing slopes. Snow conditions in Les Deux Alpes are exceptional. Most of the slopes are above 2,000m.
In the village of Les Deux Alpes, you will find a series of drags that make up an excellent network of slopes for beginners. From various points in the village a series of lifts take you to the main area. The lower slope area (between 1,650 m and 2,100 m), located just above the village, is very steep and consists mainly of black runs. Here you will find the mythical Diable 1which is not to be missed.
A little further up, you will access the Combe de Thuit area, with long and less difficult slopes (blue and some red), and up to the summits of the Tête Moute ( 2,815 m) and Le Toura (2,915 m) mountains.
The third area, the smallest, is Lac Noir, with a selection of magnificent slopes if you are an intermediate skier, with about 600 m of vertical drop and unbeatable snow conditions, exceeding 3,000 m of altitude.
The last area is the Mont-de-Lans glacier (3,200 m to 3,570 m), with easy slopes, ideal for you to learn with unbeatable snow, enjoying fabulous views. From the high altitude of the station, you can descend to the lowest point covering a continuous slope of more than 2,200 m.
In total you will find: 17 green, 45 blue, 22 red and 12 blackslopes distributed as we have explained above.
