Eliminate much of the access road, build a car park lot and finally a new gondola lift that allows direct access to the ski resort facilities from the outskirts of the town of Setcases. All this has an estimated cost of about 40 million euros, as advanced last week the director dels Serveis Territorials del Departament de Territori in Girona, Sergi Albrich, in an interview to the newspaper 'El Ripollès'.
The studies and drafting of reports to detail the project are already underway, and when they are ready, the exact value of the project will be known. The intention is that the Vallter 2000 ski resort will have activity all year round.
The objective of the intervention is to guarantee the survival of the resort, making a commitment also to reduce the presence of cars up to the top . Perhaps by eliminating the road that reaches the current base of the ski resort at 2,160 meters above sea level.
As Albrich admits, the idea is to equate the Vallter model with that of Vall de Núria, where the final stretch of access to the resort is done with another less polluting mode of transport.
Until now, there has always been talk of converting the current elevation 2000 , where there is only one car park lot and the exit of the Enric Planella tandem chairlift, into a single car park area and from there a new lift would take passengers and skiers up to elevation 2,160 meters. And the current road, try to turn it into a ski slope.
Now it seems that a connection from further away, from Setcases, is being sought. In this case the length of the gondola or cable car would be about 6 kilometers in a straight line, approximately the same as the Funicamp in Andorra.
The project is progressing in stages and for now there is optimism. According to Albrich, it fits in with the will of the Conselleria to promote projects that provide backbone to the territory and contribute to sustainability.
The curvy road accesses the 2,160 m elevation of Vallter 2000.
Fair but possible deadlines for the new gondola lift that should connect the village of Benasque with the ski slopes of Cerler. If all goes well, the manufacturer will be awarded this summer, and in autumn they will start working for December 2025 to be able to release it.
