The opening of Aramon resorts in the Pyrenees has favored a good tourist occupancy this Christmas. The snowfall this weekend allows the Aramón Group to be optimistic about the evolution of the season.
Since the opening of the season, on December 3 at Formigal ski resort and on December 6 at Cerler, the Aramón Group has been working hard to ensure that the snow fell and was produced in suitable conditions for skiing.
The adverse weather affecting skiing throughout Europe has limited the number of skiable kilometers in the Pyrenees resorts and has prevented the Group from starting up the Javalambre and Valdelinares resorts.
However, in the context of an exceptional situation, the balance would be positive; the daily work of the mountain teams has made it possible to ensure skiing to date and to maintain a level of tourist occupancy in the Pyrenean valleys that would be around 80 percent until January 4 and somewhat lower towards the Epiphany holiday, as usual.
The Aramón Group's commitment to traditional Christmas activities, such as the New Year and Epiphany torchlight descents, or après ski, which has had agreat affluencethroughout the holidays, have also favored this occupancy rate.
As Antonio Gericó, general manager of the Group, explains,
"despite the exceptional weather conditions experienced throughout Europe, Aramón has managed to maintain the Cerler and Formigal-Panticosa winter resorts in conditions that have managed to maintain occupancy during these days".
He also points out that the Group's calendar of events and après ski events has also contributed to the fact that many visitors have chosen these valleys as their destination.
The weather forecast for the next few days is favorable and could lead the ski resorts and their surroundings to increase the number of skiable kilometers and return to the desirable normality for this time of the year.
Snow has appeared in Formigal, but only at the end of the Christmas holidays.
Fair but possible deadlines for the new gondola lift that should connect the village of Benasque with the ski slopes of Cerler. If all goes well, the manufacturer will be awarded this summer, and in autumn they will start working for December 2025 to be able to release it.
