Boys and girls between 4 and 14 years old, with functional diversity or reduced mobility, experienced a morning of adapted skiing and mushing in the El Tarter ski area of Grandvalira.
Today, the Soldeu and El Tarter ski areas of Grandvalira were the epicenter of accessible snow activities for children in commemoration of World Snow Day, promoted by the International Ski Federation (FIS).
The candidacy for the Andorra 2029 Alpine World Ski Championships held an adapted day on the snow for children with functional diversity or reduced mobility.
The children enjoyed mushing rides and adapted skiing in El Tarter thanks to the team of the Adaptive Center of the Ski and Snowboard School. In parallel, Soldeu also hosted activities such as snow field hockey, Burton snowboard riglet, a parallel and a giant slalom for all children.
The general director of the Andorra 2029 candidacy, David Hidalgo, valued the day positively and explained that "it is the third consecutive year that we celebrate an inclusive day. Accessibility and inclusivity are pillars in our project, and days like today help us to identify improvements in the accessibility of the resort and events".
David Hidalgo: "From the candidacy, we celebrate for the third consecutive year an inclusive day, and these experiences help us to identify improvements to make the station more accessible".
The day was attended by children from various associations in the country, such as AMMA (Association of Minority Diseases of Andorra), AUTEA (Association of Autism Spectrum Disorder of Andorra), the ASDA (Association for Down Syndrome of Andorra) and the Andorran Association for Autism Spectrum Disorder of Andorra).n por el Síndrome de Down de Andorra), AUFARE (Asociación de Usuarios, Familiares y Representantes Legales de la Fundación Privada Nuestra Señora de Meritxell) and Hi arribarem! (We will arrive!).
The bid for the 2029 World Alpine Ski Championships works with a vision of the event that has two essential pillars. On the one hand, inclusion, with the intention of turning the resort and the country into a source of inspiration for different groups, improving inclusive and accessible products, services and infrastructures. This would make it possible to eliminate barriers and promote social inclusion and equal opportunities. On the other hand, skiing and health are promoted with the aim of encouraging healthy habits from childhood through sports practice, promoting continuous training towards professional and elite skiing.
Fair but possible deadlines for the new gondola lift that should connect the village of Benasque with the ski slopes of Cerler. If all goes well, the manufacturer will be awarded this summer, and in autumn they will start working for December 2025 to be able to release it.
