Easter has brought to Baqueira Beret penance in the form of changeable weather that has not at all daunted the more than 83,000 skiers and snowboarders who have enjoyed the four areas of the station between Saturday, March 23 and April 1. This figure is almost double the number of visitors during Easter Week last season, which was already in the month of April, when 47,000 skiers were registered.
With a total thickness after 5 days of snowfall of up to 50 cm, the resort had its highest skiable peak at 119 km on the 23rd and its coldest day on March 27th with -7ºC when the ski lifts opened. The heaviest snowfall at high altitudes was recorded today, Monday April 1, with 20 cm of new snow.
The Val d'Aran and the Valls d'Àneu have experienced all kinds of weather phenomena with snowfall, hail, spring storms, sunshine, intense cold and humid days with mild temperatures. A whole thermometric kaleidoscope that has left two days of full winter powder snow, two other days of powder/hard quality, three days of hard/spring quality and three more days of spring quality.
90% of Baqueira ski lifts have worked this Easter.
A real catalog of conditions worthy of the newly opened weather station just before the start of the holidays, which has provided all kinds of situations in which Baqueira has maintained more than 100 km skiable daily in 9 of the 10 days of the period. There have been three days of moderate wind and in one of them it was necessary to close some lifts of the ski resort. Despite this, the open facilities have ranged between 32 and 35 of the 36 existing lifts so that the flow of skiers has been guaranteed at all times.
In terms of events, the success of the concert in Beret of the surf group Smile, which coincided with a radiant day and the good organization of the Final phase of the Spanish Cup - Championship of Spain SBX-SX, in addition to the eight competitions in the Stadium of Beret between social clubs and the Gold Test.
The ski resort will remain open uninterruptedly until Sunday, April 7 and, of this final stretch, highlights Friday 5 and Saturday 6 with the biggest musical event that is recorded in Baqueira Beret throughout the year: the Polar Sound.
Radiant days have been combined with more complicated days this Easter in Baqueira Beret.
The Polar Sound Festival is scheduled for Friday 5 and Saturday April 6 in the car park lot of Baqueira 1500 and in its fourth edition continues to offer a lineup of artists and Spanish pop-rock groups.
Confirmed for the 2024 edition are Ana Mena, Taburete, Arde Bogotá, Álvaro de Luna, La Oreja de Van Gogh, Veintiuno, Malmo 040, Despistaos, José de Rico, Danny Romero, Barce, Luigii Nieto, Ardiya and Caco Monteverde.
The price of the festival tickets is 59.50 euros for one day or 94.50 euros for both days. Access to the venue is open to people over 18 years old, and to those over 16 years old with authorization and accompanied by their father, mother or guardian.
There will be only one stage inside a huge tent, whose assembly is already visible these days in the 1500 car park lot, so that no two artists will coincide at the same time. The festival will close at 3 a.m. and all payments inside the venue will be made through the cashless wristband system. We recommend all those who wish to attend the festival to park their vehicles in the Ruda covered car park.
More than 83,000 skiers have come to Baqueira this Easter
Regarding the rest of the ski resorts that have remained open this Easter, including Baqueira Beret, and also Boí Taüll, Port Ainé, Espot and Tavascan, have closed the holidays with the sale of 110,000 ski passes, 60% more than the previous year.
The Tourist Board has valued as "positive" the level of occupation of these holidays, despite the weather conditions that have been changing during the nine days. The regions of Lleida have closed this Monday an Easter Week "positive" with an occupation of between 85% and 90%, as reported by the Diputación de Lleida in a statement.
