A week ago we explained that the opening of the new season of the ski resort of Tignes would be from September 29 ; but, finally it will not open as planned due to lack of snow.
During these last months it has become too hot and sunny, because of it these last days the glacier has been running out of snow . The elevator company (Société des Téléphériques de la Grande Motte - STGM), the snow patrol and the mayor of Tignes have decided to postpone the opening of the glacier, which was originally scheduled for September 29.
The resort reports that the snow cover of the glacier has deteriorated and does not allow to offer the optimal conditions required for skiers, ski clubs and winter sports professionals who normally visit the resort at the beginning of October of each year.
Also, the staff will be ready to receive the first skiers as soon as the colder temperatures and precipitations are forecast . Likewise, the winter sports infrastructures (Tignespace and Le Lagon) will open as planned (September 29).
Fair but possible deadlines for the new gondola lift that should connect the village of Benasque with the ski slopes of Cerler. If all goes well, the manufacturer will be awarded this summer, and in autumn they will start working for December 2025 to be able to release it.
and be the first to receive great ski deals!
