One meter of snow has already fallen in Tignes
We did not expect it until November 25, but the perpetual resort, the one with 365 days of skiing, has announced that it will open sooner than expected. You can expect to ski in Tignes from Saturday, November 18. Just a week earlier than expected when it announced that it would probably no longer open its slopes and lifts on the glacier in summer and practically during the whole autumn.
The snowfall in recent weeks in the Alps, which is being more abundant than usual (especially after what we have seen in the last two years), is allowing many resorts to start up. Some following the programmed schedule but with more slopes than expected, and others, as is the case of Tignes, advancing the announced date by a few days.
There is still more than a week to go before the opening of what, if there are no last minute surprises, will be the first ski resort in France to open to the public in winter season mode. Too many days to know the slopes that will be available, although it has been announced that they have 1 meter of freshly fallen snow, and that the Perce Neige Funicular will be running from 9.15h, a quarter of an hour later it will be the turn of the Grande Motte cable car, and another 15 minutes later we can get on the Vanoise chairlift.
In this way from 09.45h we will be able to see the first turns on the French snow. The last to leave can wait until 15h, when everything will begin to close. First the chairlift, half an hour later the cable car, and finally at 16h the funicular.
Another resort that will also open on Saturday, November 18 will be KitzSki in Austria. If nothing goes wrong at the last minute, it will be up and running in winter mode that weekend.
Snowfall in Tignes started 2 weeks ago.
Fair but possible deadlines for the new gondola lift that should connect the village of Benasque with the ski slopes of Cerler. If all goes well, the manufacturer will be awarded this summer, and in autumn they will start working for December 2025 to be able to release it.
and be the first to receive great ski deals!
