This week the Masella ski resort has registered a large influx of skiers; Working days have been excellent with the arrival of families and many school groups.
Also, during these days of Carnival beyond national skiers has highlighted the influx of customers from different regions of southern France. On Saturday and Sunday instead, the influx came from skiers composed of families or groups of friends and ski clubs in Barcelona. Customers have enjoyed almost spring conditions thanks to the pleasant temperatures that have reached the terraces, bars, restaurants and especially on the slopes. All this thanks to:
The altitude, with many sectors above 2,100 m that keep the snow cool, the north orientation that protects the tracks from solar radiation and keeps the snow colder and, finally, the forest with forest masses that protect the snow from the solar radiation, are factors that favor a good conservation of snow.
There are sectors such as, for example, Isards de Coma Oriola and Coma Pregona that are oriented to the north, are very bleak and are above 2,000 meters of altitude factors that favor that the snow on the slopes of these sectors is especially well preserved, even the warmest days of spring.
Although the weather this season has been marked by long episodes of anticyclone, with very stable weather, this week has enjoyed good conditions of snow quality on slopes, especially in the sectors of medium and high levels. It is in this sense that the dry climate characteristic of the Cerdanya favors a very good conservation of the snow despite the thermal smoothness.
In the meteorology of Cerdanya, as spring approaches, snowfall is more frequent. Following the typical weather pattern of the region, facing the 6th and 7th of March, there is a forecast of a change in weather with a decrease in temperatures and a return of snowfall.
Masella will remain open until conditions permit, which generally coincides with the end of April or the beginning of May.
Fair but possible deadlines for the new gondola lift that should connect the village of Benasque with the ski slopes of Cerler. If all goes well, the manufacturer will be awarded this summer, and in autumn they will start working for December 2025 to be able to release it.
