Information about Ski Arena Andermatt Sedrun

Ski Arena is a ski resort in the Swiss Alps, composed of the resorts of Andermatt, Sedrun and Disentis. This complex forms the largest ski area in central Switzerland! It is composed of 180 skiable kilometers and 33 gondola lifts leading to more than 3,000 meters above sea level. One of the highlights of this resort complex is freeriding, with 16.5 kilometers on offer.

The resorts are linked by the Sport Train and the Cuolm da Vi gondola lift. The holiday from the Dieni train station in Andermatt-Sedrun to the Sedrun train station at the Disentis ski resort takes only five minutes.

This train has a feature that you will love: It offers an après-ski experience! Twice a day you can board a train with a bar, where you can enjoy a refreshing drink while gazing out of the windows at the incredible alpine scenery. This is one of the most mythical experiences of these resorts and one that we highly recommend you enjoy.

The resorts also make it easy for you, since the ski pass includes a ticket for train travel.

Without a doubt, skiing in this Swiss resort is an experience you will remember for a lifetime! What are you waiting for to book your accommodation at Esquiades com?

Why should you ski at Ski Arena?

If you like the mountains and practice the sport of skiing, this destination is a must for these reasons:

In Andematt-Gemsstock you will find everything you are looking for: perfect powder snow, challenging steep slopes and descents with a vertical drop of 1,500 meters. In Andermatt-Oberalp Pass-Sedrun, the Oberalp Pass is the perfect destination for all those looking to experience winter in all its splendor. At Disentis you will find divine winter scenery, deep snow and a breathtaking mountain environment, along with a wide variety of winter sports activities.

The range of slopes on offer is extensive, with the following content:

  • 18 blue runs with a ski area of 47.5km.

  • 40 red slopes with a total area of 84km.

  • 12 black slopes with a surface area of 37km

  • 7 yellow slopes (freeride) with a surface area of 16.5km

As you can see, this destination is a mecca for off-piste and backcountry skiing for the most demanding freeriders. You can also enjoy spectacular scenery, very reliable snow, a traditional Swiss village and a great offer of accommodation and gastronomy. Doesn't it sound like a perfect plan?

A must-do experience if you ski here is to take the gondola lift from the village of Andermatt at 1,444m to the top of Gemsstock at 2,961m, enjoy incredible views and descend with one of the following 3 options:

  • The red run No. 70

  • The black piste Nº71

  • The yellow clue Nº72

All three have a descent of almost 1,000 vertical meters, but since you are in Andermatt, the most authentic thing to do is to go down the yellow freeride run!

What activities are available at Ski Arena?

Of course, the skiing and snowboarding that can be practiced here are a great attraction to go, but there's even more!

Freeriding

The Gemsstock, at almost 3,000 m above sea level, and the Disentis area are especially attractive to freeriders because of their incredible runs. From Gemsstock, there are routes in all directions and numerous variants leading back to the valley. Deep snow lovers can enjoy untouched slopes with plenty of powder, natural drops and jumps.

ACE Snowpark

The ACE Snowpark, located below the Gütsch, is a paradise for freestylers. It is redesigned every year and features 10 to 15-meter kickers, boxes, special waves, rail downs, snowpark tubes and much more. Freestylers can unleash their creativity on three lines with different levels of difficulty.

Winter hiking

For those seeking relaxation and enjoyment of the mountain scenery, winter hiking trails are available. From Andermatt to Disentis, there is a network of well-maintained trails covering several kilometers.

Sledding

Sledding enthusiasts will find plenty of options to enjoy here. They can choose between the gentle road from Oberalp to Andermatt, the thrilling descent from Milez down into the valley or the toboggan run with a sensational view to Disentis. For those who are not afraid of the ascent, you can hike from Realp to Tiefenbach on the Furka Pass. After a two-hour ascent, you can relax in the Tiefenbach restaurant before tackling the fast descent into the valley.

Going skiing at Ski Arena with children?

These slopes offer many attractions for intermediate and advanced skiers as you have seen, but there are also good options for children.

Snow novices will find their own playground at Matti KidsArena in Nätschen, Druni KidsArena in Sedrun and Saxwiese in Disentis. These places feature magic carpets, practice slopes, a snow playground and fun mascots to make first runs a pleasure. And to satisfy your hunger after all that fresh air and frolicking in the snow, there's a children's restaurant nearby.

Another option is to take ski lessons for kids at one of the local ski schools.

We also recommend activities such as those mentioned above: The gentler sledding descents will really appeal to them, as will some easy hiking trails, and the overall experience of seeing these typical Swiss mountain villages or hopping on the train and seeing the beautiful scenery.
