It seems that there is always one more step to be able to tender the new gondola lift that will link the town of Benasque with the ski slopes of Cerler. According to Heraldo de Aragón, the Aragón Government Council last week approved the urgent occupation of the accommodation and rights affected by the expropriation. This time, it seems to be the last administrative step and only 9,251 euros had to be paid to the owners of these lands.
The Benasque gondola lift will be connected to Cerler
So the way is clear for the City Council of Benasque can start the tender for the work. We will then know to which brand the new gondola lift will be awarded, and the deadlines to be able to see it in operation. In principle it seems that all this will take shape this coming June.
As explained by Heraldo Manuel Mora, mayor of Benasque for the PP, in autumn we will be able to see the first movements of works. The gondola lift will be built in two phases, so that the first skiers and snowboarders will be able to get on from December 2025.
Bollards will be installed in the summer of 2025.
As the line of this lift runs through a non-skiable area and away from the road, it will be possible to work even during the ski season. It will depend on the weather, which at that point should not affect the skiing season as much, and on the measures to be taken to protect the fauna and flora of the area.
For example, helicopters will not be able to fly over the area to transport equipment s during the breeding months of the species, which is usually between December and June.
