Plastic, despite its usefulness and ubiquity, has become a global environmental threat. The Aramon Group, in its commitment to sustainability and decarbonization, has initiated an innovative project to recycle rubber from obsolete elements of its snow grooming machines and ski lifts (pulley covers, track belts, belts and tires of chair conveyors or cabins in disengageable resorts).
In collaboration with the IDM team, Aramon has managed to avoid the incineration of its used rubber elements, transforming them into anti-slip floors, being the first Spanish group to join this pioneering project.
The collection process set up by IDM as part of the Ecovertis project makes it possible to collect used plastic, pool resources and recycle the equipment to give it a new life in the form of interlocking floor panels.
This project is carried out in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France, where these pieces at the end of their useful life are recycled and transformed into Ecoverclip® anti-slip flooring that facilitates skiers' access to buildings and ski lifts or gondola lifts in ski resorts, thus contributing to the circularity and sustainability of the planet.
So far:
In total, Grupo Aramón has managed, in this first test, to recycle a total of 2550 kg of rubber and avoid the emission of 17850 kg of CO2 into the atmosphere, having recently received the documents that prove it. The calculation of the savings in CO2 equivalent is based on a Comparative Life Cycle Analysis carried out internally by IDM and verified by independent specialists such as Pole Eco-Conception and Revalue Systems who have been able to certify that the Life Cycle Analysis is in accordance with the ISO 14044 standard.
This project is one more example of how Grupo Aramón wants to contribute to the goals of reducing the carbon footprint and is a testimony of the environmental benefits from the circular economy, it also shows that companies can play an important role in the fight against plastic pollution and climate change.
We recall that:
Rubber is no longer incinerated or thrown away. It is reused for anti-slip flooring
