1 Relocation of the old ski lift

This Thursday, January 25, 2024, the Port Negre chairlift in Pal Arinsal was officially inaugurated.

Today the new Port Negre chairlift in Arinsal was officially inaugurated in a ceremony that took place at the foot of the same lift and was attended by the consuls of La Massana, Eva Sansa and Roger Fité, the senior consul of Canillo, Jordi Alcobé, the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports, Alain Cabanes, and the general manager of the resort, Josep Marticella.

Sansa emphasized that

"the change in the model of the resort, together with the single ski pass, have been two major milestones that have made us stronger and more competitive and have allowed us to start the great project of the ski union, great news for the world of snow in the country".

Afterwards, Father Eduard de la Massana went on to bless the new structure, which had already been in operation since the beginning of the season.

The new TSD6 Port Negre is the great novelty of the season for the ski resort, a 6-people , detachable ski lift of the Doppelmayr brand. The new device replaces the old 4-people fixed chairlift and considerably improves skiers' mobility in the area. It is longer than the previous one, since its starting point is lower than the previous one and reaches an altitude of 2,493 m, so that it will be closer to the cable car that connects to Pal.

Specifically, it is taken from right in front of the restaurant El Niu, so that the new route will also improve the dynamization of this area. In addition, the new chairlift is also much faster. Its transport capacity is about 2,400 people per hour thanks to its 57 six-people chairs. Josep Marticella emphasized that

"It is a new generation chairlift that has changed the appearance of the resort. It has replaced the old Port Negre chairlift and a tele-ski, and allows us to improve the mobility of our skiers, also in a much more sustainable way".

With the new chairlift, the new 700-meter-long El Niu blue run has been created. Both developments mark the first step towards the future ski link between the Pal and Arinsal ski areas, which will involve a total investment of 40 million euros.

For the 2024-2025 season, the La Massana resort will complete the next phase of the connection with a ski lift and red runs that will already allow skiing from one ski area to the other. In addition, the investment plan in Pal Arinsal foresees that, with the connection, the resort will add a total of 7 skiable km and reach 70 km.

Likewise, new green and blue slopes will be created in the Coll de la Botella area, which will considerably enhance this entrance to the resort, which will have more services and easier access.

Andorran authorities, directors of Pal Arinsal and SETAP 365, have inaugurated the new TSD6 six-people detachable chairlift in Pal Arinsal.

Relocation of the old ski lift

The old 4-people chairlift has received a thorough overhaul that has increased its useful life and has been reinstalled in a newly created area in the Grandvalira resort called Encampadana, in the Canillo ski area.

With the new Seig chairlift (also named after the river that rises in the area), 3 new red slope s (Seig, La Font and La Pala) have been laid out around it, adding up to a total of 5 new kilometres of slope s in Grandvalira.

Thus, Grandvalira Resorts has since this season a total of 308 km of slopes distributed among the three resorts, which will be 315 when Pal Arinsal slopes are opened.
