Baqueira opens its slopes for the weekend with more skiable kilometers planned

1 New Barqueta slope
2 Agenda

The week that has marked the leap year of 2024 will be remembered in Baqueira Beret as the one that has broken the trend of the perennial anticyclone with a powerful squall that has left snowfall thicknesses of up to 165 cm in just seven days. With this white joy, the ski resort has worked hard to ensure a splendid March and Easter and the most direct result of this is that it could reach up to 155 km of slopes for the weekend of 9 and 10, provided that the weather is good.

Snowfall leaves up to 175 cm of compacted snow.

Wide skis, lots of clothes to protect from the cold, beards full of fresh snow and faces of the tired joy of deep snow have been the most common images in the last week lived in Baqueira Beret when winter has become winter again. The "powder" accumulated during seven days that has reached up to 165 cm of snowfall added in high altitudes and 135 in the middle has allowed to return to those intense sensations that allow the endless 2,273 ha. of skiable terrain.

New Barqueta slope

After the snowfall, the Barqueta red slope was put into operation. This new route that gives access to the Argulls area from the Mirador de Baqueira is inaugurated, with a total length of 770 m and 274 m of vertical drop. It allows a direct descent through a difficult slope to the Argulls and Bonaigua area. The fun Audi Ski Kronos has also been opened and moved to Beret. The easy giant timed giant is now located parallel to the Reina slope below the Snowpark. This timed activity is complemented by the Race Corner, a screen that will allow you to watch the runs directly on the premises with a ski pass reader.

Images of the new Barqueta slope in Baqueira Beret

Given the magnitude of the rainfall, the slope preparation services have had to work non-stop to ensure the maximum opening of slopes throughout this week to reach, according to the forecast, up to 155 km of marked trails for the weekend of March 9 and 10. Temperatures during the past week and the forecast for this week are negative in mid and high altitudes, which will maintain the quality of the snow. The coldest day during the snowfall episode has been March 4 with -9º C.

Up to 155 skiable kilometres may be opened in Baqueira Beret if weather conditions allow it.

The central area of Baqueira will open 33 slopes and 2 off- slope itineraries, in Beret there will be 39 slopes and one itinerary, Bonaigua will have 26 beaconed slopes and the smallest, but most challenging, of the Bonaigua area will have 26 beaconed slopes.Bonaigua will have 26 marked slope s and the smallest, but most powerful of the resort, Baciver, will offer its two ski lifts in operation for 8 slope s available to the public. In total it is planned, weather permitting, to open 106 slopes plus the three itineraries of the 114 routes marked on the map of Baqueira Beret.

This magnificent scenery for the practice of winter sports and the maximum enjoyment of snow tourism has a very good base since the thicknesses on the slopes at present are 175 cm of compacted snow at high altitudes and 120 cm at medium and low altitudes, increasing by more than half a meter the official thicknesses in the routes before the precipitations.

For their part, the security services of the station for the prevention of avalanches have applied the established protocols detonating the areas susceptible to snow accumulations that may affect the skiable domain. However, all people who go off- slope are reminded that they do so at their own risk and that they must take into account the signs of the resort regarding closed areas, as well as follow all safety rules and be informed of the state of the snowpack and the level of danger.

The best powder weekend in Baqueira Beret is here!
