Espot will open chairlift next season 2019-20

Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) has announced that it will tender, today, Monday, March 25, a new ski lift for the Espot ski resort , in the Pallars Sobirà, which will replace that of La Roca, damaged since February 1, when a chair came off during routine maintenance work.

A thoughtful decision that has been taken after no clear cause has been found for which the incident occurred, and the reports of the specialists believe that it is best to not put it back into operation , despite not having No defect or error observed. The measure is endorsed by the General Directorate of Cable Transport of the Department of Territory and Sustainability, which has issued the final report.

FGC estimates that the new chairlift will be operational next November , just before the start of the 2019/20 season. Ferrocarrils already started a few weeks ago all the mechanisms to have a new chairlift before next season if necessary. Thus, the procedures that will begin today by way of urgency will culminate in November with the launch of the new ski lift.

It is planned that all the executive project and the relevant permits are ready to begin the work of the assembly of the new chairlift in mid-July .
