Formigal ski resort has been the first ski resort in Spain to implement a SnowFactory snow generator. An innovative solution that ensures the best conditions in the lower slopes of the winter resort.

The arrival of winter always generates expectations, but unpredictable weather conditions can make the start of the season uncertain. This is where SnowFactory comes in, a revolutionary snowmaking technology that not only increases the safety and reliability of season planning, but also ensures uninterrupted, quality snow production.

This innovative technology is not designed to replace snowguns, but to complement them, optimizing snow production when external conditions are not favorable.

Snow 365 days a year

Thanks to SnowFactory technology, we can produce snow even in warm temperatures of up to 35ºC outside. This closed refrigeration system allows us to produce snow all year round, ensuring that you can always enjoy the best snow conditions.

With the SnowFactory, not only is snow produced, but it is also of superior quality. The machine has a production capacity of 100-210 m³ of snow per container, with a special consistency that allows it to last longer and better withstand changing conditions. This enhances the skiing experience and optimizes slope coverage throughout the season.

Efficiency and sustainability

This system uses natural refrigerants, making it a more environmentally friendly and efficient option. It not only contributes to environmental protection, but also reduces snow production and maintenance costs at our ski resorts.

Low altitude operation

One of the main advantages of the SnowFactory is that it allows snow to be produced at the lowest altitudes, in the areas closest to the valleys. This ensures complete coverage of the slopes, from the highest areas to those closest to the valley.

Easy and efficient installation

The SnowFactory system is easy to integrate with the conventional snowmaking system, working in a complementary way. Its 'Plug & Play' design makes installation quick and easy. In Formigal-Panticosa, they have installed this technology in the Sextas area, with a radius of action of 150 metres, which allows snow to be distributed efficiently over a wide area.

How is snow generated with positive temperatures?

Unlike traditional systems, which rely on cold temperatures to generate snow, the SnowFactory produces snow inside the machine itself, depending less on outside conditions. This allows us to ensure a more continuous snow production, especially to surcharge those lower elevations.

The SnowFactory installation in Formigal-Panticosa is located in the Sextas area, next to the Furco chairlift. Its production capacity, combined with its efficiency, helps us to maintain the connection between slopes and offer more days of quality snow for all our skiers.
