1 Paths that have the mission of making alpine skiing compatible with skimo
2 New experiences at Grandvalira Mountain Guides and Adeventure Center
3 Timed routes with prizes in the Grandvalira APP
4 The integration of Ordino Arcalís expands Skimo's offer

The Andorran resort has integrated a new circuit this winter season, Peretol, and already has a total of nine cross-country skiing itineraries, all of them free of charge and adapted to all levels of physical and technical requirements.

Paths that have the mission of making alpine skiing compatible with skimo

These routes also comply with safety regulations and allow coexistence with alpine skiing practitioners, based on the new Sports Law approved by the Government of Andorra in January 2019.

All itineraries , whether inside or outside the ski area, are duly marked indicating the path to follow and thus guaranteeing the safety of skiers.

Recall that in principle the practice of skimo is not allowed by the slopes of the resort , the Andorran resort - unlike the Spanish resorts - has the power to regulate and / or prohibit the practice of mountain skiing on slopes.

New experiences at Grandvalira Mountain Guides and Adeventure Center

The Andorran resort is still betting on mountain skiing not only with the incorporation of more circuits, but also with new experiences through the Grandvalira Mountain Guides (GMG) program . It is the only center of high mountain guides entitled in Andorra by the International Snow Training Academy in Switzerland.

The other specialized center of the resort, the Grandvalira Adventure Center , offers various mountain and adventure activities aimed at all audiences. One of its star products are mountain skiing sessions, with the possibility of starting on the circuits marked inside the resort or enjoying, for higher levels, departures through the Vall d'Incles or Ransol, on idyllic snowy terrain untreated

The El Tarter activity center has a team of professionals with more than 20 years of experience as mountain guides, security experts and connoisseurs of the terrain that offer the possibility of enjoying the mountains in many other ways, with security and confidence .

To the mountain ski offer is added helieskiing, an experience for the most expert and daring adrenaline lovers with descents through wild terrain from the top of a mountain by helicopter access.

Snowshoeing is another possibility offered by Grandvalira to get to know the mountain, with departures for all levels through some of the most charming corners of the mountains of Andorra such as Valls d'Incles, Ransol, Vall de Riu, Cool d'Ordino , Bony de les Neres, Camí de l'Obac or Planells d'Entorn and de Varilles.

In addition, in its offer you can also find helitouring, freeride and freetouring, where safety and climbing techniques with seal skins and interpretation of the nivoso mantle are taught .

The Grandvalira Mountain Guides can also be enjoyed in the schools of the Pas de la Casa, Grau Roig and Encamp sectors with endless departures of the most original for customers who want to discover the landscapes of the Grandvalira territory and Andorra in a different way : from a route within the domain to the option of crowning the highest peak of Andorra with mountain skis, the Pic Comapedrosa (2,942 meters), or other emblematic summits of more than 2,900 meters high such as the Serrera, Estanyó or Roca Entrevessada .

In addition, there is a program of level improvement and rope techniques for channels, ice axes, crampons and more mountain ski equipment.

Timed routes with prizes in the Grandvalira APP

Thanks to the Grandvalira APP, skiers can time their mountain skiing routes. Through this application you can read the QR code found on the start sign of the route and using GPS, the APP will automatically detect the arrival. Each user will see their result integrated into a general classification and may qualify for different prizes. The resort also recommends the download of the Safe365 security APP on the mountain.

The integration of Ordino Arcalís expands Skimo's offer

The integration of Ordino Arcalís in the Grandvalira resorts group allows Europe's largest resort to expand its range of itineraries within the discipline of mountain skiing. Between the two resorts there are currently a total of 12 marked circuits : 10 of them marked and 2 with GPS slopes. This season, with the integration of Ordino Arcalís, those of La Coma, Les Portelles, L'Hortell, La Font and Pic de Peyreguils are added.
