Grandvalira return to the great 'White Circus' with the organization of the Women's World Cup Alpine ski from the 27 to 28 February 2016. The International Ski Federation (FIS) has awarded the largest ski station in southern Europe with two competitions of the highest international level which had never been held before in Andorran territory, the 2 disciplines are: super giant and super combined.

In addition to this great sporting event, the FIS announced last week during the Conference Calendar of Dubrovnik (Croatia) some other important dates to Grandvalira as holding the finals of the European Cup in alpine skiing, as male and female, in the areas of Soldeu-El Tarter on the 10-16 March 2014, a new edition of the World Cup at the Flying Kilometer in Grau Roig sector on 1 and 2 March 2014, as well as the confirmation of the World Championships of the same discipline for 2015.

World Cup women's downhill in 2016

After the different confidence tests mandated by the FIS in various sports events organized in Grandvalira, the international body returns to bet on the dispute Andorra two tests that will take place on the slope Àliga El Tarter sector.

This layout has been rectified and improved to make the slope a perfect competition scenario for competition and for the ski resort. Àliga The new slope has a length of 2.9 kilometres, 50 meters wide and a vertical drop of 751 meters. The surface has been adapted to the technical requirements of the FIS and is a path marked by changes in elevation, walls and flat. This summer will begin the installation of a total of 47 guns and nets. The slope approval by the FIS is scheduled for late summer, early fall.

Moreover, at the request of the international body, Grandvalira recall the last section of the old slope layout Àliga to condition for super combined (+ supergiant slalom), second round of the World Cup. Thus, during the second day, was first played on giant super (new Àliga) and secondly, the slalom (old Àliga). For slalom, Grandvalira foresees the installation of 7 guns along the 350 meter long slope racing.

Note that the FIS requested this modification to allow a single scenario the arrival of the two tests, aimed at optimizing technical resources as well as together in a single space infrastructure requiring television crews.

The slope Àliga tested with the finals of the European Cup

Before the prestigious 2016 World Cup, the European alpine circuit stops next season at Grandvalira and, specifically, in the areas of Soldeu - El Tarter to host the finals of the European Cup male and female. It will be 10 to March 16 when the slopes Avet and testing Àliga host giant slalom and downhill and super giant, respectively.

During the next season of snow, the new slope layout Àliga will premiere in competition and will be a technical and organizational milestone facing the great 'White Circus' February 2016. In this sense, the CEO of Grandvalira-Ensisa, Conrad Blanch, assessed that the finals will be "a test of trust in which need more financial and human resources". And, during the days of competition, the event will be tested simultaneously in the two slopes.

Kilometer World Cup Launched in 2015

Andorra Grandvalira also repositioned on the map of world destinations snow with the third consecutive World Cup Flying Kilometer (1 and March 2, 2014). The Grau Roig sector will host the showpiece of the discipline of speed. The technical organization of proof Nadal tops Ector has deemed it fit to stage racing on slope Riberal.

Grandvalira also use this summer to put the layout of the Riberal to achieve the approval process in the fall. No doubt the Riberal is a slope much more complete than his sister, Antennas. It will have a longer stroke and wide, 900 by 60 meters and features that will allow a longer braking zone (400 meters), making it much more secure than its predecessor. This will allow brands sprinters reach up to 170 km / h, much higher than records that were marked in the Antennae in 2013 where, the youngest of the brothers Origone (Ivan), managed exceed 150 km / h.

The third edition of the World Cup in KL Grandvalira reach the second round of the circuit. Vars (France) will give the starting shot and follow the other 4 tests that make up the calendar (Andorra, Switzerland, Sweden and Canada).
