Grandvalira Skimo: a long-distance ski tour

The Grandvalira sports calendar does not stop for this month and on the weekend of February 24 and 25 the third edition of the Skimo mountain ski crossing arrives in Andorra. This edition, the race presents two different routes: Skimo 6 , formed of a single stage and, as a novelty, the Skimo 10 , race in two stages that will require a much higher physical and technical level.

Departing from Naturlandia arrival in Grau Roig, the Skimo 6 has a 30 km along the valley of the Madriu-Perafita-Claror and link 6 shelters located between the two points (Shelter Rock Pimes, Refugio Estany of Nou, Refugio dels Orris, Refugio de Montmalús, Refugio de Claror, Refugio de Perafita and Refugio and Estany de l'Illa) saving a drop of 2,000 m in total. The next day, skiers participating in the second stage of Skimo 10 must make a new 40 km and 3,000 m slope with departure from the Grau Roig sector of Grandvalira.

The popularity of this skiing modality has been evident with the success of this year's call . According to the organizers, the registrations were sold out in a period of 8 hours. In total, 634 people will be divided into 270 teams formed by professionals and amateurs who seek to overcome this test while enjoying the most spectacular landscapes of the Principality.

A total of 150 people among volunteers, Red Cross, Firefighters, Civil Protection and Mountain Police, will participate in the organization of the test and ensure the safety of the participants, one of the highest priorities. Grandvalira is the main sponsor of the event along with the collaborator of the resort and specialist in mountain skiing La Sportiva.
