Ski resorts in the Aragon Pyrenees prepare for a weekend of snowfall

1 The Aramón Group resorts are preparing a weekend with snow as the main protagonist.

Aragon ski resorts will receive the bulk of the snowfall

The Pyrenees of Aragon expects this weekend one of the heaviest snowfall so far this winter. Although the models have been lowering the amounts, the snow will arrive at almost all levels, and also with the intention of staying, after the weather forecasts also announce a continued drop in temperatures during the next week.

According to the forecast for the end of the week, the changes will begin to be noticed from Thursday afternoon, with the beginning of some precipitation in the form of snow that will increase throughout the weekend. The western Pyrenees seems to receive the bulk of this snowfall, according to Joseba, who specifies that

"The snowfall will be more important until Saturday in the Western Pyrenees, where the accumulations will start to be important, exceeding 60 mm in some areas. In the central part it will be around 30-40mm.

In the Eastern Pyrenees they would be between 15 to 25 mm on the northern slope and 10-15mm in the south, becoming generalized on Sunday.

AEMET also coincides in the snow forecasts for the weekend with the first snowfall on Thursday afternoon reaching heights that will go down from 2,200 to 1,000 meters at the end of the day. And the precipitations will continue on Friday, the weekend and until Tuesday probably, with more force in the westernmost Pyrenees. According to Rafael Requena, delegate of the State Meteorological Agency in Aragon (Aemet),

"The problem in the Pyrenees this season is that the snow level has been very high almost always because in December and November there was a lot of precipitation, but they stayed above 2,000 or 2,500 meters. This time it will reach the bases of the resorts, which are located around 1,500 meters.

This squall will leave the highest accumulations of the whole winter because we have had punctual episodes, but not four or five days of snow in a row as expected".

The snowfall will allow the ski resorts of the Aragon Pyrenees to renew the image of their mountains and recover some slopes. Precipitations that are expected to continue next week, and also in greater abundance, "with enough cold to be all snow above 1000m, even the elevation could be lower," as Joseba indicates.

The Aramón Group resorts are preparing a weekend with snow as the main protagonist.

The expected snowfall and lower temperatures will allow the Group's resorts to work on increasing the number of skiable kilometres for next week.

One more weekend of fun in all the snow holding resorts with activities for all audiences such as; ambassadors in Cerler, performances by international DJs like Yves in the après-ski of Marchica or the best gastronomy with live music to accompany the day of skiing.

In addition to the snowfall, the Aramón Group resorts continue with an agenda full of events for all audiences. One of the main protagonists is the Spanish Cup of Inclusive Alpine Skiing, which will take place in Formigal on Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25. It is an initiative of the RFEDI, the FEDDF, the FEDPC and the FEDC, which seeks to develop an alpine skiing competition circuit in which athletes with and without disabilities can participate together, thus seeking to promote winter sports.

On the other hand, the Cerler resort has as every Saturday with "Ambassadors", an initiative that aims to Cerler experts receive skiers to make a tour of the station and show skiers the most charming corners of the station.

Once the ski day ends, the Benasque Valley and Tena Valley resorts continue to offer unique experiences to skiers. This weekend, the Cerler resort will have in its après-ski to artists of the national scene as Göly and Michenlo, while the Formigal resort will have Deivkook, Obregon and the Belgian DJ and producer Yves, who will perform for the second consecutive year his show in the après-ski of Marchica.

The Remáscaro of Cerler awaits with a first class après-ski
