Snowfalls allow FGC ski resorts to open in style

Thanks to the snowfalls registered, the mountain resorts of FGC Turisme will be able to open a good part of their skiable ski area and ensure an Easter with very good conditions.

Winter has returned with force and a lot of joy to the six mountain resorts of FGC Turisme. Low temperatures and precipitation in the form of snow recorded from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 March have resulted in a very considerable improvement in conditions for skiing and snowboarding in all the tourist facilities of Railways.

Espot opens all its ski slopes this week

This is excellent news both in terms of water reserves in the country's internal basins and from a tourist point of view. This latest episode of snowfall could allow some of the group's resorts to open 100% of their skiable ski area in the coming days once the perimeter is secured from avalanche danger and the slopes have been prepared.

Boí Taüll, in Alta Ribagorça, and Port Ainé and Espot Esquí, in Pallars Sobirà, have been the resorts most favored by the southern squall. Boí Taüll has added up to 90 cm of accumulated snow in almost three days of snowfall and in the highest points of the station the thickness reached 240 cms. Port Ainé and Espot have registered 80 cm.

Boí Taüll has added 90 cm of snowfall and Port Ainé and Espot Esquí have received up to 80 cm of new snow. Vall de Núria and Vallter have registered 50 cm and La Molina 40 cm.

In these resorts of the Lleida Pyrenees, the slopes teams worked from the first moment in the conditioning of the routes and especially in minimizing the danger of avalanches, since with the thicknesses recorded it is important to ensure the skiable area of the station.

Boí Taüll accumulates up to 240cm of snow.

The most optimistic resort was Port Ainé, where since yesterday is opening 100% of its skiable ski area. Boi Taüll has also increased its ski area to over 40 km of open trails. Similarly, Espot has also reached its ceiling of 25 km of slopes in operation and therefore with the totality of open traces.

As for the eastern Pyrenees resorts, La Molina has received up to 40 cm of new snow, which will considerably increase the supply of open slopes, reaching 80% of the resort, up to almost 60 km of marked traces, corresponding to 56 slopes.

With the snowfall, the connection with Masella is guaranteed, and the Cadí Moixeró cable car is now open uninterruptedly. The Central, Torrent, Debutants, Alabau and Tosa areas are open. The Fun Park and the Nissan X-Trail Slalom will also remain in operation once the teams can condition them after the accumulated thicknesses.

The snow guarantees the three weeks of the final stretch of the ski season in FGC resorts, where they plan to close on April 1.

On the other hand, Vall de Núria, with 50 cm of new snow, has opened practically 100% of the skiable ski area and has the Parque Lúdico at full capacity. In Vallter, with the 50 cm snowfall, the skiable ski area has been extended with the Bac, Xemeneies and Xalet areas, which together with the Clot area, which was already open, will allow reaching 100% in the Camprodón valley resort throughout this week.

The staff of the resorts is working to secure the area and minimize the danger of avalanches, condition the routes and open the maximum number of skiable kilometres for the next few days until the end of the season, scheduled for April 1.
