Hi Arki! You always tell us wonderful things about Grandvalira and we are really looking forward to hear from you about why you are so in love with this Andorran resort. Let's see, let's start!

I'm so excited to share with everyone everything I know about Grandvalira. I was really looking forward to being interviewed!

Also, I belong to the Esquiades.com Quality team - If you're wondering what we do, we are the little people who read all the travel reviews and contact the accommodations so that the information on our website about them is correct!

And as an expert in reading reviews, I am also a specialist in explaining what I know first hand ;)

Great! So let's get started. What is it about Grandvalira that makes it one of the best in the Pyrenees?

You mean: thebest! For those who don't already know, Grandvalira is located in Andorra (the Pyrenees Country) and is the largest resort in Southern Europe.

It has more than 210 skiable kilometres spread over 138 slopes. The best adjective that defines it is: VERSATILE. Let me explain:

It is a paradise that thinks of all skiers: beginners, intermediate, advanced, snow lovers... You have 7 ski areas to decide which one fits you:

TIP: The more experience you have, the more north you will go.

1) Encamp ➜ This is the first access to the ski areafrom Spain and the closest to the Andorran capital (Andorra La Vella). To get to the slopes you must get on the Funicamp, a 6 km long funitel, connects in 15 minutes the village of Encamp with the area of Solanelles, where the ski slopes begin and from which you can enjoy one of the best panoramic views of the domain.

2) Canillo ➜ If you want to enjoy a first contact with the snow, Canillo is ideal for its low difficulty. This ski area is located in the village of Canillo, where you can breathe a quiet, mountaineering and uncrowded atmosphere.

The little ones can enjoy the Mon(t) Magic children's circuit.

3) El Tarter ➜ Experts and families, you will like this. El Tarter has one of the best black runs in the resort, l'Àliga. Leaving aside the adrenaline, families have a varied offer for the little ones. I recommend the Bababoom Circus, where children can enjoy a slope tailored to their needs and a whole series of surprises.

And to top it off, in this ski area you will find the most famous Après Ski shop in Grandvalira, the mythical Abarset! (A few lines below I will tell you in detail about this place).

4) Soldeu ➜ It is ideal for intermediate skiers! Undoubtedly, this is one of the most versatile ski areas of Grandvalira. It is strategically located in the center of the ski resort and has wide slopes and spectacular descents for snow enthusiasts.

Here is the mythical Avet slope! It was the venue for the women's skiing World Cup event in 2012.

5) Peretol ➜ It was premiere in the 2019/20 season! Peretol is home to one of the reference snowparks: the Sunset Park Peretol by Henrik Harlaut. The only night snowpark in the Pyrenees, open from Friday to Sunday, from 4pm to 9pm.

6) Grau Roig ➜ The most unspoiled ski area of the resort! With slopes of all degrees of difficulty and routes adapted for the youngest. It has numerous areas for the practice of freeride, i.e. the famous off- slope . With 3 marked circuits and the only kilometre slope launched on the peninsula, permanent venue of the World Cup.

In addition, in Grau Roig you can do suuuuper fun snow activities: dog sledding, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. You can add them as a travel extra to your ski booking! After choosing the dates and the hotel ;)

7) Pas de la Casa ➜ It is located practically on the border between Spain and France. uenta with two main chairlifts of 4 and sleeps 6 that quickly dislodge the lower area of people who want to go skiing to other ski areas or down from the higher elevations of the same.

In addition, Pas de la Casa is one of the areas with more atmosphere, as it has a multitude of restaurants, charming hotels and pubs. Here the apartments for skiing with friends are very well priced!

What a great deal! Hey, and if we talk about food I'm getting hungry... What are your recommendations?

One of my favourite restaurants on the slopes is the Refugio del Llac de Pessons. It is located at 2350 m at the foot of Lake Pessons. Here you can eat on a terrace with stunning views and choose between: sandwich menu or a la carte restaurant.

To access this magical place you must ski the Camino de Pessons slope.

What a view!

Another of my favourite restaurants in Grandvalira is the Manacor Restaurant in Ransol (El Tarter). They specialize in grilled meats and your mouth will be watering. They work with a dry maturation process called Dry Aged Beef.

And after skiing, is there an après ski atmosphere? Where do you recommend?

Although I'm more about resting after a long day of skiing, I know of a place that you will love. It's a MUST!

I've mentioned it before, have you heard of the Abarset? This mythical après-ski place open from 17:00 is located in El Tarter. Not only is there a great party, but also a delicious gastronomic offer!

Looks great, Arki! Now please let us know how we can get a pack of hotel + 2 days ski pass in Grandvalira for less than 120€!

And now yes, to get to the end I'm going to tell you the TRICK ➜ To find hotel & ski pass package deals in Grandvalira for less than 120€ you have to book during the week at the end of February, in March and on weekends in April at Esquiades.com!
