The snowfall leaves the ski slopes of Port del Comte with almost a meter of snow

1 El Bosquet: the freeride area in the woods.
2 The ski resort without queues

The snowfall that has fallen this weekend in many areas of the peninsula has left almost half a meter of snow in the ski resort of Port del Comte. In this way, according to the report issued today, it already reaches 85 cm of maximum thickness, with the chairlift of La Bófia open, giving access to El Bosquet, one of the few freeride areas totally between forests of our country.

The season in Port del Comte began on December 12, after the short Immaculate Conception Day holiday this year. Since then the resort has opened uninterruptedly with an average of 20 to 25 km of slopes daily, reaching 35 km this past Sunday .

These are data that allow us to aspire to reach the 85,000 days of skiing that were sold before the pandemic and that these last two complicated winters prevented to reach.

The forecasts for next weekend are just as optimistic. A new snowfall should reach the slopes of Port del Comte from Thursday, which will surely allow it to reach the meter of snow and reopen the 34 kilometres of this past Sunday.

Port del Comte has three restoration areas:

  • The one at the base at the Querol chairlift.
  • The Xalet, at the exit of this chairlift and managed in concession by a family.
  • And the Sucre hamburger restaurant, at the foot of this chairlift.

El Bosquet: the freeride area in the woods.

This weekend's snowfall has made it possible to open, reopen La Bófia chairlift and the slopes to which it gives access. Also the Bosquet, perhaps the only freeride area completely between trees in Spain. In total there are just over 27 hectares of off-piste skiing between trees, which is cleaned every summer to remove fallen branches on the ground, as well as those on the tree trunks that may hit a skier when descending.

However, for those who want to continue to experience skiing in the woods without going off-piste, the resort is entirely in the trees. The slopes have made their way through a thickly wooded area, which makes it possible to enjoy, especially at times of the season like the current one, a 'little Canada'.

The ski resort without queues

Located exactly two hours from Barcelona and without having to pay any toll, Port del Comte sells between 50,000 and 85,000 days of skiing per season. In addition, the design of its slopes makes its skiable area is extensive and skiers and snowboarders are spread out a lot. There are no 'parallel runs' here. In addition, each chairlift has its own ski area, which means that they do not all end at the same point.

These conditions mean that there are no queues on the lifts or overcrowding on the slopes.

The entire resort has its ski slopes among wooded areas.
