7.3 - When are the resorts going to open?

This year is probably one of the strangest and most difficult ski seasons of all times.

The ski resorts' openings dates keep changing due to the current situation and, although some of us have to wait a bit longer before we can hit the slopes again, we will be able to ski again!

Here in Esquiades.com we are feeling very positive and we are doing everything possible to offer all of you an incredible 2020/21 ski season.

We are going to start of by sharing these tips for a safe skiing experience ;)

Just a few days ago the president of the Tourist Association of Ski and Mountain Resorts in Spain (ATUDEM) confirmed that ...

“Skiing is a safe sport» - Jesús Ibáñez

1. Keep a safe distance with other skiers.

Already on the slopes, the sport of skiing is governed by FIS regulations. (International Ski Federation) which states that the skier coming from behind must keep a sufficient distance between himself and the other skier so as to leave the person in front a sufficient space to move freely.

(Some newer skiers do not know this rule and sometimes they tend to stick too much).

On the other hand, the interpersonal distance in the waiting areas of the ski lifts occurs naturally due to the length of the skis and snowboards.

Even so, you must maintain the social distance of a meter and a half to guarantee the safety of all customers and users of the ski resort.

2. Wear the mask at all times.

As a general rule, ski resorts are making the use of a mask mandatory on the lifts, but not on the slopes, where it will not always be mandatory (depending on the season).

Wear the mask when using a ski lift or chairlift.

However, you can cover yourself with a surgical mask or with an approved buff (with filter). For us, the buff is a very good option to avoid having to worry about removing and putting on a mask; You have always skied with buff so in that aspect you will not notice any change.

Make sure you bring enough masks and remember to renew them according to the time indicated by the manufacturer, from 4 to 8 hours depending on the model you have chosen.

The first skiers in Les 2 Alpes ski with a mask!

3. Disinfect your hands and equipment.

This point is very important (not to say the most); you have to put all your equipment in order as well as cleaning and disinfecting it thoroughly before going on the slopes.

Obviously, we recommend that you not share poles or other utensils related to ski equipment, nor with your relatives or “close friends”, much better that each one uses their own equipment and thus avoid possible risks.

In the event that you do not have your own ski or snowboard equipment and you must rent it, you should know that all equipment rental stores will be responsible for disinfecting the equipment after and before each use.

Health authorities recommend frequent hand washing and use of hydroalcoholic gels.

The ski resorts have installed gels at strategic points such as lockers, equipment rental areas and restaurants, among others, something that will make it easier for you to have clean hands in those moments when you do not use gloves

4. Covid Protocols in the Ski Resorts.

So that we can continue to enjoy skiing responsibly and without risks, it is of great importance that EVERYONE, more than ever, follows the protocols that each ski resort has implemented for the skiing season.

We must also make sure to comply with health and safety measures in crowded places (apart from the ski slopes) such as restaurants, equipment rental shops, ski or snowboard schools or snow gardens.

Vallnord Pal-Arinsal has already shared with us its anti-covid protocols to ensure a safe skiing experience this winter.

5. Add a ski insurance to your ski holiday (we can offer you one that will have you covered in and outside of the skli resort)

As you know, we have been working very hard for a long time so that this season you can enjoy the best prices and the best guarantees.

Your safety comes first for us.

That is why we have added new covers to make your ski holiday even safer and you don't have to worry about a thing.

These advantages are:

Free Cancellation

Ski insurance

Money-back guarantee with COVID-19 coverage

Refund guarantee for confinement

6. The key to safe travel that would help all travellers in the world

Yes, we have the ultimate key to traveling SUPER SAFE.

The best thing to do before making any ski holiday or getaway would be to have a negative PCR test.

If this advice was practiced by all travellers and skiers, the safety of all tourism would be guaranteed.

We understand that this point is the most difficult to fulfill, at least for now.So what we are going to tell you is very obvious but it does not hurt to remember: before making your holiday, please check if you suffer from any symptoms such as: fever , cough or trouble breathing ...

If you have any of these symptoms, contact 061. They will inform you of everything you need to do.

Bonus Track: we solve the most common doubts

- Can I cancel my booking at any time?

Of course, keep in mind that depending on the type of cancellation you have booked, you will have some costs or others. These are the types of cancellation available on Esquiades.com:

  • FREE cancellation

  • Flexible Cancellation: depending on the dates you cancel, you will have to pay one amount or another.

  • Non-refundable: if you cancel your booking we will not be able to refund the amount of the booking

- What happens if I test positive before my ski holiday?

In the event that you have a positive PCR and you cannot travel, you do not have to worry about your booking. It is automatically canceled at no cost if, as we say above, you have contracted the COVID Refund Guarantee surcharge.

In addition, as long as you are 2 people in the booking, the other person can also cancel for free
