This is how the new Dossau chairlift, the star of this winter in Baqueira Beret, has been built

It was the month of December 1985 when the Dossau Chairlift completed the first phase of the development of Beret.

Located in the upper part of the Beret de Baqueira ski area, the Dossau 3-people fixed-grip chairlift allowed access to the Tuc deth Dossau peak and served several red slopes "Ticolet" and "Dossau", and to go to the Dossau cable rope, to access to a slope "Egal 1" black, one blue and the "Egal" red.

The old Dossau is now history. It had very little capacity for the volume of users required by the installation, while it also had some functional and technical shortcomings.

Forty-eight Decembers later, it has been replaced by a brand new, detachable six-people chairlift that has just been released. Of course, it has kept the name and is from the same brand, the prestigious Doppelmayr.

On the occasion of the premiere of the new Dossau, Baqueira Beret has published a video that summarizes the entire construction process, which has not been easy, but has been done in record time.

The 2023 Dossau is a disengageable six-people , whose layout starts at a lower elevation than the previous one and ends at the same point as the original.

The benefits between the old and the new have nothing to do with each other: if before the travel time was 12 minutes, now it has been reduced to 7, the capacity has doubled (from 3 to 6 passengers per chairlift), it is more comfortable and safe when embarking and disembarking skiers, avoiding crossings between slopes.

In figures, the new Dossau has a capacity of 2,400 skiers per hour, with a starting point located at 1,881 m and the arrival point at 2,508 m, covering a drop of 627 m and a length of 2,301 m.
