Port Ainé on November 3 after the snowfall of the storm Ciarán
The squall Ciarán brought the first snowfalls with some relevance to the ski resorts of the Pyrenees. In some of the highest peaks, about 20 centimeters of snow could be registered, as it is the case of Boi Taüll, where they are preparing to have everything ready for November 25.
In Baqueira Beret they took advantage of the snowfall to test again the snow production system in winter conditions. The mountain has returned to green, with some of the snowfall still remaining at high altitudes, but temperatures will remain very cold this week, and between Tuesday and Thursday will experience full winter thermometer records.
Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, owner of all the ski resorts in the Lleida Pyrenees except Baqueira (and Tavascan) has assured Diari Segre that everything will be ready to start the winter season on November 25 if the conditions on the slopes in Espot and Port Ainé are good enough for that day.
That is to say, that not only will the safety systems and slope nets be in place, as well as the signaling, but also the staff will be hired, both for ski lifts and for the catering points and equipment rental points.
Baqueira Beret also announced a few weeks ago that its planned schedule starts on November 25, 2023 and will end on April 7, 2024, provided that conditions permit.
Baqueira Beret tested the cannons on November 3, taking advantage of the snowfall of the Ciarán squall.
The Sierra Nevada National and Natural Park, the same that embraces the ski resort from which it takes its name, has been included in the IUCN 'Green List', which certifies that there can be coexistence between mountain and slopes.
