The ski resort of La Molina is located in the Cerdanya, a region of the Catalan Pyrenees. A pioneer in winter sports, it was the first station in Spain to install a mechanical lift, in 1943. More than seventy years later La Molina has become a modern and innovative station that has a wide range of sports and leisure activities to satisfy the tastes of all.

It has been the venue for major events and has a long history in the high international competition that endorses the quality of the slopes and facilities of La Molina. These competitions are the Alpine Ski World Cup (2008), the Snowboard World Championships (2011) or the Alpine Ski World Championship for the disabled (2013).

Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy 68 km of skiing divided into 63 tracks for all levels. The maximum height of this magnificent Catalan station is 2,445 m and the minimum height of 1,700 m, La Molina in the heights offers views that combines the forest with bare mountains.

Why ski in La Molina?

If you are a beginner and want to learn how to slide on the snow, this Catalan station has 13 ski and snowboard schools. Also, if you are more experienced there are professionals who can teach you freestyle and telemark techniques. Once you have acquired the basic knowledge, dare to throw yourself through its 18 green and 19 blue tracks. You will find them in the sectors of Pista Llarga, Trampolí and Coll de Pal, these are very wide and you will see how it is not difficult for you to descend through them.

But if instead you are a more experienced skier / snowboarder the station La Molina puts into practice your skills and techniques through 19 red and 7 black tracks. It also offers an initiation snowpark and a large one, with the largest halfpipe in the whole Pyrenees!

What activities can be practiced in La Molina?

How to get to La Molina?

To get to this resort you have different possibilities to get there. You can do it:

- By Train: Línia R3 Hospitalet de Llobregat - Vic - Ripoll - Puigcerdà - La Tour de Carol Parada de La Molina (Rodalies of Catalonia). And from the station you can take a bus that runs every 30/15 min to the ski station.

- By plane: this possibility must be combined with other means of transport (car, motorcycle or bus). The nearest airports are: Barcelona - El Prat Airport (at 166 km), Girona-Costa Brava Airport (at 127 km) and Cerdanya's sport aerodrome (at 16 km)

- In Skibus: from Wednesday to Friday you can take Skibus service, the departures are from Barcelona, ??Sabadell, Terrassa and Manresa.

- By car: from Barcelona it lasts 2 hours and 9 minutes, you must take Take B-10 from Via Laietana, Plaça de Pau Vila, Carrer del Dr. Aiguader and Exit 22, then you must take E-9 from C-16, continue on E-9 and take GI-400 towards Carrer Costa Rasa in La Molina.
