The Port del Comte ski resort is located in the Solsonés region, within the province of Lleida. And it stands out for two aspects: a resort with a strong family character located in a very picturesque place. It is surrounded by a spectacular black pine forest. You're going to love it!
As for the tracks, they are wide and well marked; the slope is of medium type and is an ideal area for beginners as it allows rapid progress. For the little ones you have a Snow Garden with an own mechanical carpet in an isolated enclosure and a nursery!
Also, this ski resort is the closest to Barcelona. And you will think: it will be crowded with people! Well, if there is something we like about Port del Comte, it is that it does not usually have many crowds of skiers and snowboarders in its tracks.
This winter resort is a medium-sized resort with a good atmosphere, very comfortable and easily accessible! It is not a super resort like Grandvalira can be; It still has a great variety of tracks. In total it has 37 tracks.
Port del Comte has three differentiated areas, not only geographically but also by difficulty: the Hotel area (for beginners), the Sucre area (intermediate level skiers) and the L'Estivella sector (advanced level skiers).
If we talk about the clues, as we have explained a few paragraphs above, the resort has little difference in general; This handicap contrasts with the variety of tracks it offers. Our favorite and most charming area is the “free-ski area” where in the 2011-12 season an entire forest was conditioned to comfortably ski under the trees with an acceptable slope. Beware this area is for expert skiers!
On the other hand, the starting point of the ski lifts is 1,750 m, considerably high, right? Here it usually snows abundantly with storms from the Mediterranean (raised), although they are usually rare. We recommend you to take advantage of the first hour snow since it has a better quality than the afternoon.
For beginners and children the season is excellent. In the hotel area there are magnificent ski slopes to start; and in the case of taking the chairlift you have other long green and blue tracks that will help you improve the technique. In addition, the ski school welcomes children from 5 years of age in classes and from 3 in the nursery or snow garden where they will also start skiing or snowboarding.
On the other hand, for intermediate skiers or snowboarders there are wide and varied areas. For those quieter there is a large number of wide slopes where you can ski quickly and without the need for much effort. There are also demanding red slopes that connect to other areas by roads.
And for experts there are good black tracks that are not usually tread. They are short, excellent and demanding. They won't let you down if you're looking for strong experiences! As for outside slopes the areas are very wide especially l'Estivella and some forests where there are interesting areas of "glades" (skiing between trees).
What if I don't ski? Is there anything for me? Well of course! The Port del Comte ski resort has a fun area of sleds and tubbies with a conveyor belt so you don't have to go up the trail on foot. And there are great itineraries to do with snowshoes!
From Esquiades.com we recommend you spend a weekend in Port del Comte; It has good accommodation at the foot of the slopes and very attractive prices!
Also remember that all our ski packages include hotel and ski pass. As well as the regime you want. And that's not all! During the booking process you can add accessories such as: ski insurance (very important), ski equipment rental, discount for non-skiers, vehicle rental, etc ...
