Sierra Nevada Ski Resort is located in the south of Spain and is known for being the most snow-sure ski resort in Spain. It is the southernmost ski resort in Europe and the highest on the peninsula, plus it's super close to Granada and Costa del Sol . But, above all, it is a first-rate destination for ski lovers.
Sierra Nevada ski resort has Mulhacén , a 3,718-metre peak that stands as the highest in the Iberian Peninsula and the second in Spain, after Mount Teide. But what makes it so great is its proximity to the coast.
Also, the location is not the only thing that makes Sierra Nevada different. The Granada ski resort has a total of 105 kilometres, 124 ski slopes (20 green, 42 blue, 55 red and 7 black) and 7 snowparks. Which makes it one of the Spanish ski resorts with the most kilometres for skiing, the third most extensive in all of Spain, after Baqueira Beret and Formigal Panticosa.
In addition, it is open for many months, usually from November to May, thanks to a climate of contrasts that allows you to enjoy mild temperatures, long-lasting snow and many hours of sunshine a year. Its mountainous complex, with important botanical values and high mountain lagoons, was declared a National Park and biosphere reserve by UNESCO . As you can imagine, its landscapes are fascinating.
It is one of the resorts where you can practice skiing at night. You can go night skiing once a week and enjoy 6 km of illuminated slopes. You can go skiing and to the beach on the same day, how crazy is that? The ski resort is also planning on building a cable car that connects Granada with Sierra Nevada to avoid driving your car to the ski resort.
A very interesting fact is that on the clearest days you can see Africa from its summit, as this ski resort allows you to see the mountains of Morocco even though they are 250 kilometres apart.
