1 A sustainable holiday to escape from the rush
2 One of the best skies in Europe for astronomical observation.

Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) presented this Thursday June 13 the tourist offer for this summer 2024 of the tourist facilities it manages: six ski and mountain resorts (La Molina, Vall de Núria, Vallter, Espot Esquí, Port Ainé and Boí Taüll), tourist transportasticos (Montserrat Rack Railway and Funiculars, Núria Rack Railway, Tren del Ciment, Tren dels Llacs and Tren Granota) and the Parc Astronòmic del Montsec.

During the ceremony, the president of FGC, Toni Segarra Barreto, has expressed his desire to ensure an attractive tourist offer aimed at all audiences.

"From Ferrocarrils we work to have the best return for the territory, this is our priority. And we do it through the creation of economic, social and labor dynamism that offers the best service to the people who visit us.

An objective that we base on seven fundamental pillars: sustainability and the fight against climate change; diversification of the activities offered to promote local tourism; deseasonalization to attract visitors throughout the year and better distribute the influx of visitors; digital transformation of our services to improve customer service; and mobility to improve the quality of our services. The digital transformation of our services to improve customer service and mobility for citizens; collaboration with local agents to promote the areas of influence where they are located; the promotion of sport and outdoor physical activity in all its forms and sustainable mobility to access tourist destinations, following European models".

This summer 2024 FGC Turisme remains committed to the Pirineu365 Club, the loyalty program aimed at all customers of FGC mountain resorts who want to enjoy the mountains and outdoor activities 365 days a year.

In its first year of operation, it already has more than 20,706 members (i.e. an increase of 112% compared to the start of the winter season 2023-2024), who enjoy special offers on FGC products and services, prize draws, participation in conferences and experiences in Ferrocarrils mountain resorts, among other advantages.

Sustainability, diversification of the tourism offer, deseasonalization, digital transformation, promotion of sports and collaboration with local agents are the strategic axes of its management.

Mountain resorts, up close

FGC Turisme' s mountain resorts are the gateway to some of the main natural and national parks in Catalonia and, therefore, become ideal destinations of proximity to enjoy experiences in the high mountains.

  • La Molina opens from Saturday June 15 to October 6;
  • Vallter from Saturday June 29th to September 1st;
  • Boí Taüll from Saturday July 20 to September 1.
  • Vall de Núria is open 365 days a year, with summer activities.

La Molina becomes the biggest amusement park of the Pyrenees

As for the resort of La Molina, among its wide range of activities, the Bike Park, which is the largest in the Iberian Peninsula, the children's activities and the panoramic rides with the Cap de Comella chairlift and the Cadí - Moixeró cable car to the top of the Tosa d'Alp at 2,537 meters, stand out. This becomes an unbeatable starting point for excursions, such as the Mines and Fauna circuits.

In addition, this summer, from Saturday June 29, La Molina recovers the activities of the Lake area and incorporates new proposals. Visitors will be able to enjoy different proposals such as kayaks, water skates, the remodeled Disc Golf circuit, children's electric bikes, as well as the sports circuit. As a star proposal, the new aquatic bicycles stand out, which can be rented during the whole summer season. Suitable for everyone from 1.50 m in height, they allow you to discover the lake in a different way while practicing sports.

The Coma del Clot cable car ride is included in the Vall de Núria rack railway ticket.

Vall de Núria, where the activity never stops, is a car-free place, as the Núria Rack Railway is the only means of transport to get there. It is a natural space free of pollution where the biodiversity of the valley is preserved, such as marmots, chamois or bearded vultures.

This summer 2024 will be one of the most attractive mountain tourist facilities for the general public. Its summer offer is aimed at both families and sportsmen or visitors who want to enjoy a day of rest or spiritual shelter in contact with nature.

Among its proposals are the ride on the Coma del Clot cable car, the wide variety of hiking trails for all levels and a wide range of activities for the youngest members of the family, such as boats and canoes, horse and pony rides or mini golf.

As a novelty this summer, Vall de Núria offers yoga sessions and on June 29 will inaugurate a temporary exhibition on the Ecovall, which will be free for all visitors. This summer, in addition, Vall de Ribes resort presents four new experiences to enjoy and rediscover the valley: canyoning excursions, trekking the Olla de Núria, photography outings and night outings. All these experiences include a stay at the Vall de Núria Hotel.

Vallter becomes in summer the cycling hub of the Eastern Pyrenees.

The Vallter mountain resort will start the season on Saturday, June 29 and will extend it until Sunday, September 1. This summer focuses its summer offer on outdoor sports activities. Among the main activities, highlights the panoramic ride on the Jordi Pujol Planella chairlift, which brings visitors up to 2,535 m and allows them to visit the source of the Ter river, a space that will be identified with dry stone elements and new information signs to communicate and raise awareness about this place.

Among the star proposals for high mountain enthusiasts are the activation of the Ter Route on foot and mountain bike, which has its own card and the first stamp is placed in Vallter, which becomes the starting point; the hiking and trail running outings around the Morens circus; or the now traditional challenge "The roof of Catalonia", a first-class mountain pass of 12 kilometers and 895 meters of vertical drop that separates the idyllic village of Setcases from the arrival at Vallter.

During this summer there will also be activities for children who can participate in the Fajol self-guided gymkhana to get the Fajol Club card and a Fajol keychain as a gift.

The Boí Taull offer in summer is looking for activities to enjoy with the family.

Boi Taüll will welcome the season next Saturday, July 20. This summer 2024 comes loaded with excitement, since the opening of a 200-meter double zip line is planned. Its premiere will be announced when it is ready for use. This attraction is the first of others that are planned to be created as part of the Adrenaline Mountains Summer Project.

Among the various proposals that will be available throughout the season, special mention should be made of the guided routes with electric bicycles in the resort for all levels, the rental of electric motorcycles for children of all ages, the use of electric bikes for children of all ages, the use of the ctric motorcycles for children from 3 to 10 years old in a children's circuit, located between the Vaques and Junior ski lifts, as well as family hiking trails of different levels of difficulty, in the middle of the Alt Pirineu.

As for Espot Esquí and Port Ainé, both located in Pallars Sobirà, during the summer season they maintain their link with the region, promoting and participating in the activities of the territory. In addition, their social networks promote different cultural, sporting, gastronomic and traditional aspects of the region.

Finally, it is important to note that the Espot Esquí mountain resort will be linked to the bicycle hub project, promoted by the Consell Comarcal and with European funds. As part of this initiative, the Pallaresan resort will give up its space to host a Bike Park.

A sustainable holiday to escape from the rush

FGC Turisme's tourist transport will also be in operation during the summer season: three tourist trains, three funiculars and two rack railway trains. Under the umbrella of the Turistren brand, FGC invites citizens to rediscover the territory of inland Catalonia to transport them to destinations full of nature, culture and history. A proposal in which the journey becomes an experience in itself.

The Montserrat Rack Railway and Funiculars, located in the Bages region, provide sustainable access to one of the most emblematic and characteristic places in Catalonia: the Montserrat Mountain Natural Park, an incomparable tourist reference that receives visitors from all over the world. Apart from the many hiking trails that can be done, you can also enjoy museum spaces such as the Geopark Interpretation Center or the Museum of Montserrat, without forgetting the obligatory visit to the Basilica of Montserrat.

The Núria Rack Railway, in the Ripollès region, brings people from the towns of Ribes and Queralbs to Vall de Núria, a unique natural enclave in the Catalan Pyrenees. It is the only transport to access this ski and mountain resort of FGC. Throughout the 12.5 kilometers of route and 1,000 meters of unevenness, this tourist transport of more than 90 years of history offers spectacular views of the landscape.

The journey is made without crowds because users are advised to book their tickets in advance, thus guaranteeing availability and seating. In addition, this way the environment is respected and protected with a sustainable influx of visitors and without overcrowding, both for the valley and its surroundings.

This summer, your ticket includes a ride on the Coma del Clot cable car to the Pic de l'Àliga viewpoint and a visit to all the museum spaces and interpretation center that visitors will find in Vall de Núria and at the Ribes Vila rack railway station. In addition, on weekends you can enjoy a special circulation with vintage trains and interpretive guide that include in the route an exceptional stop at the viewpoint of Fontalba.

As for the Cement Train, in Alt Berguedà, it maintains its tourist route that runs along the route that in the past linked the Asland cement factory in Castellar de n' Hug (now converted into the Tren del Ciment).Hug (today converted into the Cement Museum), with Guardiola de Berguedà, currently stopping at the Artigas Gardens designed by Antoni Gaudí and La Pobla de Lillet.

The Tren dels Llacs runs through one of the most spectacular and unique places in the territory, going from La Plana to the Pre-Pyrenees of Lleida. Travellers can choose between two different routes: either with the Historical Train or with the Panoramic Train, which stands out for its large windows. Either way, visitors will be able to enjoy landscapes that will not leave them indifferent, among mountains, bridges, tunnels and gorges.

This season, the Tren dels Llacs will be in operation until October 26. In total, there will be 24 circulations of the Historical Train and four circulations of the Panoramic Train.

As a novelty this year, the Department of Territory has completed the cycle tourism route of the Llacs, 107 kilometers long. It runs through the regions of Segrià, La Noguera and Pallars Jussà, parallel and complementary to the FGC Lleida - La Pobla de Segur line, in an environment of high landscape value. It aims to promote the safe use of bicycles as a tourist, sports and leisure element. In this sense, it shows FGC's commitment to the territory. In this area, therefore, there are already two Ferrocarrils actions: the Tren dels Llacs tourist service and this route.

Finally, the Granota Train, which runs between Les Planes and the stations of Sabadell and Terrassa, will run until December and will offer service on four Sundays: September 22nd, October 6th, November 3rd and December 1st. On each holiday, the train, declared a Cultural Asset of General Interest in 2023 by the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya, stops at all intermediate stations, where passengers can get on and off the vehicle.

The Tren dels Llacs in its two versions: Historical and panoramic.

One of the best skies in Europe for astronomical observation.

The Parc Astronòmic del Montsec is located in the region of La Noguera, in an extraordinary location considered the best place for sky observation in Catalonia. The low cloudiness of the area, the low light pollution and the altitude make the Serra del Montsec the ideal place for the installation of a world reference center for astronomy.

The Park brings science closer to the citizens in order to show the greatness of a night sky of extraordinary characteristics that allows to discover the secrets of the universe. For this reason, it is considered the most important astronomy facility in Catalonia and also becomes a benchmark in the teaching and dissemination of the sciences of space and the universe. It also offers the unique opportunity to observe the sun as a daytime activity, showing itself as a space rich in diverse experiences both day and night.

Among the wide range of events, this summer highlights the projection of the iconic Pink Floyd album 'The Dark Side of the Moon', in commemoration of its 50th anniversary. The Parc Astronòmic commemorates the legacy of the British rock band with an immersive experience with music and immersive images. The projections that began last December will continue until November 16 of this year.

Another proposal to highlight is the 14th edition of the "Music under the Stars" series, which runs from July to December and includes a visit to the Park and a musical show by Catalan artists. During the night visits, the Astronòmic continues to bet on the combination of music and astronomy. The shows are held once a month and give way to the performance of Catalan groups and singer-songwriters in an unusual space to enjoy music 'under the stars'.
