1 Success of the big events
2 A year of recognition

Thus, the Andorran resort has four consecutive seasons of growth in the number of visitors with moderately upward dynamics in the Spanish, French, British and Northern European markets, mainly. The proximity markets such as Spanish and French have presented a positive evolution in terms of the influx this season.

For its part, the global calculation that emerges from the volume of influx of international markets has also been ascending this snow campaign with special emphasis on skiers from the United Kingdom and the countries of northern Europe.

In a winter campaign marked by the irregularity of rainfall, the field teams have accumulated more than 1,000 hours of cannon snow production and up to 25,700 hours of snowmobile machines , two tangible indicators that enhance the pace of intense and continuous work by part of the technical staff with the aim of guaranteeing the best conditions on the slopes.

However, the distribution of visitors throughout the season has been very regular, with a high average of skiers throughout the snow season with special peaks during the holiday periods of the Purísima, Christmas and Easter , and with some February and March with figures higher than the previous years.

Grandvalira has invested a total of 16 million euros mainly aimed at optimizing and improving the experiences of its customers and with the aim of continuing to position itself as the reference resort in southern Europe. The investments that have received a more remarkable return are those made and aimed at the family audience that have meant that this customer segment increases by 5 percentage points compared to 2014-15.

The commercial and marketing director of Grandvalira, Alfonso Torreño , has valued the results with satisfaction: “the marked strategy and positioning are only part of the good results. I want to place special emphasis on all the effort of the field and commercial teams in a less abundant snow season. The investments have been very well received by skiers. We attach great importance to the 14,000 satisfaction surveys we have collected throughout the season. They are our most reliable indicator that the perception of the experience at Grandvalira is very close to the excellent one (score of 8.3 overall satisfaction ). We have already started working for the following season with the aim of polishing any detail that helps us improve customer service, the most important point of our work philosophy. ”

Success of the big events

Grandvalira closes a historic season with regard to the organization of major sporting events, demonstrating one more year the ability to host international first-order events that project the image of the resort and increase its recognition in international markets.

Between the months of January and April, The Snow Domain has concentrated the best athletes in the world in different white disciplines. The exceptional calendar of sporting events this year began dedicated to the world of freeride with the celebration of the Freeride Junior World Championships and the first edition of the famous Skiers Cup , which for the first time has been organized in a resort in southern Europe.

In February, Grandvalira experienced the peak of this season with the second-time celebration of the Women's Alpine Ski World Cup events , which filled the Àliga de El Tarter slope with the best skiers in the world like Lindsay Vonn and Lara Gut .

10,000 people lived the fast-paced live competition and about 300 Andorran volunteers watched over the good organization of this event that involved an entire country and has served to reinforce Grandvalira's position as a world reference in alpine skiing.

The final stretch of the sport season of the largest resort in southern Europe has been dedicated to two of the most spectacular ski and snowboard disciplines; Speed skiing with the celebration of the Released Kilometer World Cup and freestyle with the 12th edition of the Total Fight Masters of freestyle in the snowboard and freeski mode.

A year of recognition

The 2015-2016 season has also been full of awards. Grandvalira has positioned itself as the 16th ski resort in the world in the world ranking regarding the volume of ski days , prepared by the Swiss consultant Laurent Vanat. The Andorran domain scales 3 positions in the classification of this renowned study and is ahead of renowned resorts such as Soelden, Tignes or Zermatt.

The public has also shown its recognition to Grandvalira through two prestigious awards received this season, such as the World Ski Awards , considered the oscars of the snow tourism sector, and the Tripadvisor portal certificate of excellence. In social networks, Grandvalira has also achieved record figures. This has been collected by the communication consultancy and bigdata Sibilare, which positions the Andorran domain as the Pyrenees resort that generates more comments on the network.
