Last winter La Molina celebrated its 75th anniversary and we could see many photographs of the evolution of the season in those years. The image that caused the most curiosity was that of the Torrent Negre forest. As you can see below, the photo was taken in the year that the chairlift of the same name of the sector was inaugurated.
It is also contrasted with a current image. As you can see, years ago there were only a few spots of black pine forest; today it is a true forest for its appreciable extension. But beware, this forest grows on the right side of the chairlift as a result of a planned restocking action in the late 80s of the last century.
If you look closely at the images of the forest in recent photographs, you can see the difference between what were the pines that were already in the area in 1987 and their growth today. And no matter how they have grown in height, although it is also perceived as the forest mass planted in that same year, it is still possible to differentiate perfectly from its surroundings by size, width and homogenization that trees reveal in their growth process.

It is also curious to check, although in this case we can not provide images from thirty years ago, as the same trees planted in 1988 have been able to grow quite well in the 1,900 level and as their growth in height and extension is very less on arrival (return ) of the chairlift, at elevation 2,300.
The heights of the vegetation floors almost always move in height and thus, for example, where once there were chestnuts now oaks or holm oaks proliferate, and where there were once there are now chestnuts grow. And in the high mountains? For exactly the same thing happens: where the alpine meadows used to grow, the black pine forests now proliferate. In summary, tree species rise in height to adapt to the rising temperatures of recent decades.
In data, specifically in numerical figures, the height of the vegetation floors may have risen by approximately 50 to 150 meters in height, also depending on the orography and humidity conditions and variant if it is the southern slope, sunnier and dry, or northern slope, more bleak.
However, the change in elevation is not always determined by the global warming that is derived. There are other factors that can also help or condition, in some cases to slow down and in others to accelerate, changes in vegetation. In this sense they can influence the reduction of the herds that graze on the mountain or the population growth of certain animals (chamois, marmots ...) or forest policies (repopulation of forests or permits for logging) that the administration can do in certain valleys.
