Grandvalira has presented today the main novelties of the 2019-20 season . The season will premiere the snow campaign on November 30 and will end on April 13, as long as weather conditions allow. The largest domain in southern Europe keeps its willingness to evolve intact and has made an important investment effort with a total of 13 million euros that have been allocated mainly to the creation of new infrastructure, technological innovation, service improvement of the Ski and Snowboard School and the novelties in the leisure and catering offer. One of the most strategic aspects in terms of business is the full integration of Ordino Arcalís to the Grandvalira Resorts group, where from this season, customers will be able to ski free accessly with any of the Grandvalira ski passes. In fact, the combination of the two resorts allows skiers to offer an even more leading snow product, with a total of 240 km and a volume of visitors expected to exceed two million passes sold.

New Peretol sector

Grandvalira opens a new sector of entry to the domain. The Peretol sector, located 1,960m above sea level in Bordes de Envalira , joins the 6 sectors of the domain and will be integrated into the ski area, giving access to the slopes through the Plan de las Piedras chairlift.

New clues

This entry through the Peretol sector will allow decongesting the chair lift of Cubil, (Grau Roig sector). An important investment effort has been made consisting of the conditioning of two new slopes equipped with snow cannons (Valira 1 linked with Valira 2), which begin at the height of the Cubil Restaurant of the Grau Roig sector and end at the foot of the TSD6 Plan of the stones. This widget, which facilitates the return to the top of the Funicamp, had its exit point to the Plan de las Piedras. However, 5 tracks have also been enabled plus the Grau Roig, Peretol and Soldeu sectors .

The longest chairlift in Andorra

For this season the TSD6 Plan de las Piedras chairlift has expanded in length and currently has its starting point from the Peretol sector (Bordes d'Envalira). The facility has 128 chairs , 35 more than before, thus increasing the skiers' transport capacity. The chair lift can move up to 2,600 people per hour. The TSD6 Plan de las Piedras becomes the longest ski lift in Andorra, a technical challenge. The modification of this widget is an example of Grandvalira's commitment to offer a new mobility alternative for skiers who move from Grau Roig to other sectors as well as an important effort has been made to incorporate one more gateway to the resort .

New ski lifts

In parallel, the resort has also installed 3 ski lifts . On the one hand, TK Moretó and TK Valira that facilitate the movement of skiers through the blue slopes Valira 1 and Valira 2. And on the other, the TK Bordes that links the Sunset Park Peretol by Henrik Harlaut with the foot of the TSD6 Plan de las Piedras chairlift. The ski lift of this park will be open throughout the day to give access and link to the mentioned ski lift. The park, however, will keep its opening hours from Tuesday to Sunday from 3pm to 9pm.
In addition, from the Plan of the Stones to the foot of the chairlift that bears the same name, a new blue slope has been conditioned which is the continuation of the Solanell slope that starts from the top of the Encamp sector. This path will now be called Solanell XL.

450 car park spaces in Soldeu

The resort has made a strong investment and has built a 4-level underground car park with a total of 450 seats that is located at the foot of the ski platform that flies over the Valira River. Car Park will be free for users with the Grandvalira Season Ski Pass and skiers with the day pass from 8 am to 6 pm.

More transport capacity

Through its 76 ski lifts, Grandvalira has the ability to mobilize a total of 120,645 skiers per hour through its 210 km of skiing. The Andorran resort has become one of the most modern domains in terms of its mechanical contraptions. This cutting-edge technology has been made available to customers to make their mobility easier, avoid queues as much as possible, and thus provide a comfortable user experience.

Grandvalira has incorporated 4 new ski lifts between the Soldeu, Grau Roig and the new Peretol sectors and has installed new cabins to the Funicamp, plus chairs to the TSD6 Plan of the Soldeu Stones Plan, as well as the TSD6 Grau Roig Stones Plan chair lift incorporating 35 more chairs . Also in the Pioneros cable car in the Pas de la Casa sector, the flow of transport has increased by 1,000 people per hour. However, the largest resort in the Pyrenees increases movement capacity by 3,276 skiers per hour compared to last season.

Inivación network reinforcement and new snowplow machines

Grandvalira incorporates 70 state-of-the-art guns strategically installed by the domain. In this way, the ability to inhabit 66% of the ski area of the resort is maintained. On the other hand, 4 state-of-the-art snow machines have been acquired. Likewise, the machine park currently has 32 Ratrac , 22 destined to the tread, 2 to the specific work of the snowparks and the rest directed to the logistics and transport of people for events.

Snowparks improvements

For this season, the three parks present new modules, tubes and drawers . In the Snowpark El Tarter has renewed and reinforced the entire Furtive Area that is inside the forests of the El Tarter sector. As for the Sunrise Park Xavi by Henrik Harlaut (HH), a change of orientation is made by providing this space with modules and jumps more adapted to those freestylers that start. For its part, the Sunset Park Peretol by HH is, together with the Snowpark El Tarter, the reception space for the most pro riders. The opening hours of this park are from 3pm to 9pm from Tuesday to Sunday. The snowparks of Grandvalira continue to offer a wide variety of different spaces to jump and practice their tricks from 9 in the morning until 9 at night, 12 hours of freestyle without rest.

News at the School

The School of the Encamp, Pas de la Casa and Grau Roig sectors renews the snow gardens setting these spaces with the Kids Forest theme, emphasizing the flora and fauna of the native forests. Specifically, the whole look of the nursery also changes at the Grau Roig School, and a new snowmobile space for children is installed outside. The School has been offering children's programs for a whole day with ski lessons in the morning and adventure activities in the afternoon. The novelty of this season is that these programs also take place in the Kids Forest circuits. For its part, the resort finishes the second phase of the installation of the Yoka youth circuit of the Soldeu sector with more atmosphere, jumps, cant and new modules.

Snowboard from 3 years old

Grandvalira activates this season a revolutionary snowboarding program that is suitable from 3 years. This is the Burton Riglet concept where the hand of this North American firm introduces the smallest in this discipline with innovative and fun methods from the use of materials that work dry inside the centers Canillo sectors, El Tarter and Soldeu and, on the other hand, with materials that will be used directly from the snow from the snow gardens of these sectors.

Kids Program

Grandvalira launches this winter the Kids Program . This is a series of programs for children from 3 years of age that have the duration of a whole day of skiing and are located in the snow gardens of the Canillo, El Tarter and Soldeu sectors. During the morning, the little ones do classes, and in the afternoon the sessions are based on the gliding from activities such as snow tubbing or snake gliss. In addition, these programs also take place in the children's circuits of Mon (t) Magic Family Park, Bababoom Circus or Yoka.

More circuits 'GMG'

Mountain skiing is another discipline within the range of options offered by Grandvalira and Ordino Arcalís. Between the two resorts there are currently a total of 12 marked circuits (10 marked and 2 with GPS tracks). They are free to access and adapt to all levels of physical and technical requirements. In Grandvalira a new circuit called Peretol is added, which is located in the sector that bears the same name . This season with the integration of Ordino Arcalís are those of La Coma, Creussans, El Hortel and the Stadium.

Snake Gliss

The School of the Soldeu sector incorporates a new activity that is part of the Kids Program but is also offered to the general public. This is the Snake Gliss , an activity that consists of a set of articulated sleds that will make the descent from the Espiolets Plan to the town of Soldeu. Driven by a monitor, the Snake Gliss is suitable from 3 years and will take place in the afternoon with the last snow, once the slopes have closed.

News in restoration

The old Steak House in the Soldeu sector completely changes its face and becomes the Wine & Meat Bar by Jean Leon , a bistro-style restaurant with high-end product. In the Wine Bar, visitors will be able to enter wine territory as part of the experience where you can taste a wide range of wines from Penedès from the Jean Leon house, highlighting experiential wines and special vintages.

For its part, the Burguer Brothers chain is established on the top floor of the Cubil Restaurant in the Grau Roig sector. Also in the chapter of new spaces, Chocolates Valor will have this season with another point of restoration at the entrance of the Funicamp boarding .

Technology news

Grandvalira continues to invest in technology and incorporates MyGrandski a unique identification record of Grandvalira Resorts that gives access to all online services centrally. In addition, the resort incorporates new features to its app, including the new interactive 2D map and the information on the status of the slopes and lifts of Ordino Arcalís . The Arcalís app adapts to the design and functionalities of the Grandvalira application.

On the other hand, skiers traveling to Grandvalira in their own vehicle may be informed through the website of the resort about the occupation of car parks in the Canillo, Soldeu and El Tarter sectors . The system will control how many places will be free and in this way customers can be informed of the car park situation.

Other news

Grandvalira activates a new product that gives the possibility to spend the night at the resort in unique and exclusive accommodations located in three different locations: The Cabana Piolet is located at the foot of the middle Montmalús of its forests, is built with wood and simulates a cabin on a tree. The Domo Lodge will be located in the Coma 3 area of the Grau Roig sector and the night experience can be combined between gastronomy and overnight in this hot igloo. Finally, the resort also plans to install a small cabin called Plan de las Piedras Lodge that will be located in the area that bears the same name.

At the foot of the street, to access the starting point of the Canillo cable car, an escalator has been installed to facilitate entry to the building . This is an investment made by the municipality of Canillo to ensure more comfortable access to skiers who are loaded with ski equipment.
